This is my self portrait. I view my self in 2 ways the out side is what people see and the inside that only I know. Red is power and confidence and that is what I want people to see about me were blue is calm and relaxed the inside is a little warped but who is not warped.

Connotative: I am not able to under stand what she is saying. only a few words are able to be picked out of the jumble that she is saying. it is as if she is having to rush to tell you what happened to her before something else happens to her again.

This work of art is one that was very weird for me to stand up agents the wall and watch. At first I had no idea what she was saying or who she was. But as I watched it more and more it started to become more clear to me. She was a nameless faceless person that was nothing more then a vesicle for others.  After about the forth time watching it I could tell the different experiences and scenes from one another. there would be a small break in between each scene. Very small.  As the video went on the experences seemed to get more and more intence untill the climax and that is were the video starts over.

When I first saw this at the start of the semester I was very confused by it. I had to go to the MCA on a feild trip wiht my drawing class and I wondered a way from the class when I head a voice that was frantic as this one. I did not know what was going on and I wanted to make sure that every one was ok. I went in to the room and saw the video at the climax. I stood there and watched the video a few times when the curiorator brought the class in to talk about it.  After seeing this for the first time I was not sure what to think of it but the more I thought about it the more I did not like it. I had a few nightmares because of this art work.  Many times I woke up in the middle of the night just dreaming about this weird mouth floating in the air yelling things at me things I did not understand at the time. But when I went back to see it for this class I was perpared for it.

I walked in just after she had ended and stood on the wall to listen to the whole story. It started very calm and slow but as the time went on the voice got more and more intense and faster and faster. Then when I was waiting to see what would happen at the climax nothing. This made me want more I wanted to hear more to see more of the mouth moving at such speeds.  But sitting there watching this bright white appearing and dissipating so quickly started to hurt my eyes so I did what I thought the artiest wanted me to do and I shut my eyes. Almost as soon as I did that I could under stand more about the work then what I could with my eyes.

“She” was a word that kept coming up over and over and over.  “She” was the focus and “she” was the work it self. All of thees different experiences I could not tell if it was just one persons life that was being told in a random order or if it was many random peoples life’s that were all meshed in to this one movie.  The raspness of the voice gave that eary fell and was not a voice that I could place with anyone I knew and that just made it more of this idea that the person who was speaking was not important but what she was saying was. The artest could of had many diffrent mouths talking and giveing each of the sotires but I dont thing that would get the point of being a randmo  person across.

The idea of Idenety was played wiht. By not being able to see who was talking or who was being talked about it helped seprate the idea that this was just a story and not a persons story. You never saw the human behind anything and when you walk in to the space you loose your self. It is hard to see in the darkenss and you start to fell that you are just there but no one knows you you are they just see a body.

Over all I liked the work but I do not want to go back and see it.

UP

Up is about how a child starts to let go of the things that the child cares about as they float a way like a balloon.  I used balls that would most likely be used by children would play with.

I am very happy with this project over all it was a fun learning experience and I can not wait to start the next one.

Digital media is responding to the current day changes In technology, with every new update, a new level of art that can be explored. As long as digital media is out there people will be able to be able express them self in just about any way possible. But many people will argue that digital media is not true art because it is not natural and it will not have the natural touch of the artiest.  As the people say that it cheating because you are able to get the exact shot you want if you are doing photos it still takes skills to be able to make the art work look natural if that is what you are going for.  For a lot of the digital art most of the artiest want it to look as natural and look like no work has been done to it. By doing this the work of art might look like a different work of art completely.

A lot of digital art can go back and revision what the old work of art looked like to something new and exciting. like when the Mona lisa was crossed with a picture of Leonardo Divinity. To create the Mona/leo. This gave the art work a whole new look. It goes from having a smile to having a smile on one side of the work to having a frown from on the other side. This makes you think what was the other haft of the photo thinking about when they were merged together.  So as the work will continue to grow and evolve so will the time of art. This will determin what art will be looking like and judged agent in the future because western culture is finding new ways to make art and new ways to go back and edit older art with out looking to over the top.
